Announcing an Exciting Tech for Good Programme!
Healthcare company Roche, is launching an exciting programme, in partnership with Fresh Perspectiv, to support innovative Tech for Good start-up companies (not only in healthcare), who share Roche’s passion for unlocking potential in ideas, possibilities and people!
As a global healthcare company, Roche is committed to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in line with their business strategy; in particular Goal 3 – “Good Health & Wellbeing”, however, their impact goes way beyond healthcare. Roche are passionate about supporting innovation in the communities within which they work and has direct or indirect impact on no fewer than eleven of the seventeen SDGs. In addition, they have just begun an important business transformation journey and want to be inspired by Tech for Good start-up companies in terms of their agility, purpose, growth-mindset and resilience.
Fresh Perspectiv helps science and technology based organisations make better informed decisions about technologies, products and markets. Combining extensive experience of science and technology and commercialisation, Fresh Perspectiv can help Tech for Good start-ups see the wood for the trees, think about their technologies from a commercial perspective, and ultimately make even greater impact to society.

How will it work?
Selection – From all of the applications, approximately fifteen start-ups will be invited to pitch for inclusion in this Roche and Fresh Perspectiv initiative. Roche have requested that these start-ups are deliberately drawn from a very broad range of disciplines and sectors (this is not limited to healthcare or biotech organisations) to ensure that Roche have the broadest impact beyond healthcare, and therefore unlock the most potential.
Pitching - Selected start-ups will then prepare and deliver a short pitch on why they believe they should be involved in the programme (5 minute talk followed by up to 10 minutes questions) to an expert panel, in front of a Roche audience, in the Hub (Welwyn Garden City), on September 11 2019.
Support from Roche - Roche will provide the start-ups with resources in order to prepare their pitches (if required) and will invite employees into the audience who will be encouraged to ask questions and provide relevant feedback about the feasibility and implementation of their ideas. Based on pre-agreed criteria, five start-ups will be selected.
Workshop - Five companies will then be invited back to participate in a one day workshop (September 26 2019, also at Roche in Welwyn) where they will be led through a detailed logical process to explore technical, customer and commercial perspectives to develop a well-considered action plan.
Post-workshop support - Each selected start-up will receive a days support from the Fresh Perspectiv team between the end of the workshop and end of October (scope dependent on each start-ups individual needs but may include a further 1:1 workshop, market research etc.)
Roche and Fresh Perspectiv hope that some of the start-up founders and partners will record video blogs for us, so we can get a fly on the wall insight into what mind-set, resilience and drive is required to get something off the ground with the potential to change lives and have global impact for good.
